what we offer

Adult Neurology & Neurophysiology

Caribbean Neurology Services Limited (CNS Ltd) was officially incorporated in 2018 with the aim of providing Adult Neurology and Neurophysiology Services in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. Our specialists assess, diagnose, manage, and treat conditions that affect your nervous system.

Your doctor may have referred you to us if you’re having symptoms that could have been caused by a neurological condition, such as pain, memory loss, trouble with balance, or tremors. Through the use of our specialized testing methods, we will diagnose your condition and set you on the path to recovery and relief.

OUR SERVICES

Specialists In Neurological Care

Outpatients are generally referred to us by their Primary Care Physicians/General Practitioner (GP’s) or other Subspecialties such as Internal Medicine/Ophthalmology or Orthopedics. While we strongly encourage patients to be referred to the Neurology Service, we do take patients with self-referrals.

Our specialists treat conditions that affect your nervous system. Your nervous system includes your brain, nerves, and spinal cord. Conditions that impact these areas can cause pain, memory loss, difficulty with speech, and more. These conditions often require testing and treatments your primary care doctor can’t do in their office or clinic.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you deem your problem to be an emergency and cannot wait for an appointment, please go to the nearest ER for immediate assessment and treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

We Are Here To Help You

Our administration team usually confirm appointments 24 hours prior to your appointment. At that time, or just prior to the consultation they may take information such as your current medications, any allergies or past medical history. We usually scan a copy of your referrals letter and any investigations done prior to the visit.

Generally further tests may be needed to help diagnose your condition. Generally further tests are either laboratory (blood samples), imaging (e.g. MRI or CT scan) or Neurophysiological (eg EEG or NCS – see Neurophysiology).

Please ensure to have a list of all medications and allergies? If you tried any medications in the past for your condition, that should be included in the list. Please make a list of any questions that you may have.

Mental health often co-exists with Neurological Illness. While the Neurologist may be able to do an initial diagnosis and institute a treatment plan, we sometimes need to get the Psychiatrist involved.

If you think that your symptoms are severe or aren’t sure, please proceed to your nearest ER for evaluation. Please have your relatives contact my office to let us know which facility you are in and a brief update. Conversely, you can proceed to the ER at Medical Associates and someone from our team will be contacted about your condition.
