Clinical neuropsychology is a specialized area of psychology which looks at the relationship between cognition and behavior relating to brain/cerebral function. It covers the entire spectrum of life ranging from developmental concerns in infancy to academic and social functions in adolescents and young adults. It is also useful in assessing cognitive function in the older age range and assessing cognitive function and mental fitness to perform tasks after brain injury.
Neuropsychological assessments may sometimes require 1-2 days and includes numerous exercises that assess cognitive function. In most instances Neuropsychologists form part of the multi-Disciplinary team approach along with Neurologists and Psychiatrists most complex cases.
Mental health is a state of wellbeing that encompasses our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors and includes the ways we engage with others and with ourselves. It concerns how we feel, think, and act in everyday life. With good mental health, one can enjoy life and maximize one’s full potential. With poor mental health, life could be experienced as unpleasant and unsatisfactory.
